Rottnest Island’s premier festival Rottofest kicks off this Saturday with performances from international musicians and comedians, running from morning to midnight.
Ronan Freeburn, head of Vulture Culture, has described Rottofest as “one of the best festivals on the calendar.”
Despite Vulture Culture being the company that runs Rottofest, he has a point.
With headline acts like Art vs Science and great Australian comedian and co-host of Triple J’s Matt and Alex, Matt Okine, you’re guaranteed to have a good time.
One of the best local comedians in Perth, Colin Ebsworth, spoke of his history with the island festival, and what to expect this Saturday.
“I’ve done Rottnest three times,” he told ECU Daily.
“Rottnest is great in that it’s music and comedy and you don’t really get such an open festival with such diversity in acts.”
Ebsworth nominates the closing showcase galas as his highlight.
“You get to see the top acts and everyone has been drinking all day so its very loose,” he said.
“They can expect a lot of local acts and great music plus all the usual excitement of the island.”
Ebsworth is a fan of Triple J and ABC star Matt Okine and recommends him highly.
“I really like Matt Okine’s comedy, he’s a solid act and has a lot of talent for such a relatively young performer.”
Ebsworth and fellow Perth comic Rory Low will headline at the Laugh Bunker.
